Cyber Bullying…..£1,000 fines?

Hello Everybody,

UK had the right idea, don’t you think?  Parents whose children were cyber-bullies were faced with a £1,000 fine.  What do you think of that?  I say that would be a great way to get parents involved in their kid’s behavior.  I am not certain of the amount of the fine but I am for sure this would force parents to get involved in the behavioral problems their kids have outside their households.  There was an incident a couple of years ago where the parents totally denied their son’s behavior’s and actions and found excuses for what was happening around him.   Great way to raise a child!

Here is part of the article:

“Parents whose children bully classmates using text messages or the Internet face £1,000 fines.

The Government is cracking down on ‘cyber bullies’ who use mobile phones, email and social networking websites to threaten or torment fellow pupils.

Ministers want schools to make greater use of parenting orders, under which fines of up to £1,000 can be imposed on mothers and fathers who fail to rein in bullying children.  Parents who have an order imposed are bound over to control their children and may be sent to parenting classes.”  (Source: Mail online UK)

What is interesting about this article is that it was last updated at 22:49 14 September 2007.     Regardless of its age, this can helps us view some of the alternatives that may help us end cyber-bullying and bullying in general.

What do you think?
